Terms of Service

Effective: August 19, 2026 · Last updated: August 19, 2026

The short version: Buy once, use it on the Macs you own, forever. Don't share or resell your key. 14-day refund if it's not for you. We ship it as-is and cap our liability at what you paid.

1. The agreement

These terms are a contract between you and Ryan Anselman (sole proprietor, Englewood, Colorado, USA — "we") covering the Write On macOS application and the write-on.app website. Downloading, activating, or using the app means you accept them.

2. Your license

When you purchase Write On you receive a personal, perpetual, non-exclusive license to install and use the app on Macs you personally own or control. The license key is personalized with your email address.

We may revoke a key that has been published or resold. We will never revoke a key for ordinary personal use.

3. What you're buying

A one-time purchase. No subscription, no recurring charges, no account. The price you pay at checkout is the whole price. Updates are included for as long as we ship them; because the app runs entirely on your Mac, it keeps working even if updates stop.

4. Payments and refunds

Payments are processed by Stripe. If Write On isn't for you, you have a 14-day no-questions refund — see the refund policy. After a refund, your license key is invalidated and you should delete the app.

5. Requirements

Write On requires a Mac with Apple Silicon (M1 or newer) and macOS 14 or later, and transcribes English plus 24 more European languages. Check these before buying — and if you miss them, that's exactly what the refund window is for.

6. Acceptable use

Use Write On only where you have the right to record and transcribe — obey local recording-consent laws. Don't use the app to break the law. That's the whole list.

7. Your content

Everything you dictate is yours. It is processed on your Mac and stored only on your Mac; we never receive it, so we claim no rights over it whatsoever.

8. Warranty disclaimer

Write On is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Speech recognition makes mistakes; review what it types before you send it somewhere that matters.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising out of these terms or the app is limited to the amount you paid for your license. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages.

10. Changes

We may update these terms; material changes will be posted here at least 14 days before taking effect. Continuing to use the app after that means you accept the updated terms. The current version is always at write-on.app/terms.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes go to the state or federal courts located in Colorado.
